In the summer of 1999, Peter Zakas Jr. got his first job scooping ice cream in a parlor designed by his father and uncle. Little would one know, this 14 year old's path was pretty set. Washing dishes, running food and serving tables became a mere stepping stone to the launch of PJ's future. By revealing his passion for serving guests, PJ had a hand in opening three different restaurants throughout the metro-Atlanta area, as part of their Front of the House team.
In 2009, PJ moved to Hollywood, Florida where he began understanding the craft of designing restaurants, instead of operating them. Nights were filled with overseeing a marketing & promotional team for three of Fort Lauderdale's River Front bars.
Moving back to Atlanta in 2010, Peter Sr. and PJ brought the main office with them. Silvia continued orchestrating Z-Space Design's construction and procurement responsibilities from her satellite office, in Coral Springs, Florida.
With an education from Gwinnett Technical College, a platform was created and after ten years of in the design industry, PJ acquired his NCIDQ certification solidifying his national recognition.
Hospitality Design has become the focus for his career. PJ understood how to provide the guest with a superb dining experience. Now, his passion is directed to turning the restaurant itself, into a life experience.
There’s a true science that goes behind satisfying the needs for the consumer and the operator, and PJ is a firm believer in the design firm's psychology. Restaurants should be a visual experience with the ability to take their customer to another place through its interior design and atmosphere. PJ plans on carrying on that tradition for many more years to come.
